Whether your new home includes roommates, a partnership, or simply yourself, it can be helpful to ask friends to assist you with the dirty work. Having a support group that you can rely on will not only assist you in efficiently organizing, packing, and unpacking, it will also help you feel more relaxed throughout the process. Before you start bribing friends with pizza and beer, make sure you recruit people you can trust who will follow thes ground rules you set.

Packing and Inventory

Everyone knows that packing can be an overwhelming process, which is why it is important to take it step by step. If you have friends or family assisting you in packing, make sure they inventory each item they pack so you know where it is. This could mean something as simple as writing categories on boxes such as “cookware” or “bedding.” Having an inventory list will not only help you to speed up the process of unpacking but also ensure nothing is lost during the move. Determining Potential Needs

Prior to unloading your belongings and settling in to your new place, take a close look at the empty space. This will help determine sort of furnishings you might need. Knowing what work needs to be done to your house before you move in will not only help you create a to-do list but also allow you to prioritize the most pertinent work.

The first day in your new house will undoubtedly be hectic, stressful and tiring. After all the boxes are unloaded and the basic amenities are unpacked it is likely you will want some time to unwind. Nothing can disrupt your relaxation like realizing you don’t have Internet or television set up. Having things such as Internet, television, and phone set up prior to settling in can make or break the first night in your new humble abode.

Deep Cleaning

It can be hard to give your home the wash it needs when all of your belongings and furniture are in place. Do things such as clean the carpet, wash and possibly paint the walls, and dust where you normally wouldn’t. This will allow you to start out fresh and make future cleaning easier.
